Yokohama-Shi
An overcast but dry morning in Yokohama. Temperature up around 24C today. Yokohama is the 2nd largest city in Japan with a population of 3.7 million. It is the largest port city and high tech industrial hub in the Greater Tokyo Area and the Kantō region. The city proper is headquarters to companies such as Isuzu, Nissan, JVCKenwood, Keikyu, Koei Tecmo, Sotetsu and Bank of Yokohama. Out for a walk round the bay at 9:15am and headed down to Rinko Park on the waterfront. Busy with many families out walking. Followed the seawall round the park and towards the Shinko District. Passed the Pukarisanbashi Pier then over the Megamibashi foot bridge. Followed along past the Cupnoodles museum and came to the Hammerhead Shinko Pier Cruise Terminal. Turned back inland round the Shinko Circle Walk then headed towards the Cosmoclock21 Ferris wheel and rollercoaster. Crossed the Kokusai bridge and headed into the Queens Square Mall. Made my way from there to see the Nippon Maru, a Japanese museum ship and former training vessel. She is permanently docked in Yokohama harbor, in Nippon Maru Memorial Park. Finally made it back to the hotel by 10.25am. Checked out of the hotel at 11:00am and took the bus transfer for 1 hour back to Tokyo to board the Seven Seas Explorer. Sailed away at 7pm.
