Tokyo-Day4

A fine, sunny morning in Tokyo although windy with temperatures reaching about 27c this afternoon.  9:30am checked out of the Metropolitan Edmont hotel after our 3 day stay. Walked the 10 minutes to the Suidobashi overground station near the Dome, towing all of our luggage. Bought our tickets (620 yen each) for the trip to Yokohama on the East Japan Railway at the west entrance. Then realized the elevator for the platform level which we needed for our luggage was at the east entrance. This entailed a lengthy walk round the outside of the building. Eventually got our first train on the JB Chuo-Sobu line towards Akihabara where we arrived 5 minutes later. Changed here for the JK Keihin-Tohoku line. A short wait to board the train to Yokohama-Shi where we arrived 42 minutes later. Took some time to find an elevator and the exit from the station. Then walked some distance to the taxi stand. A 10 minute taxi ride brought us to the Yokohama Hilton hotel just before noon. At reception we checked in but our room was not ready so we got them to store our luggage. Alongside the hotel is the K-Arena and Anpanman childrens museum on the other side. Now went on the Bay Walk towards the water, heading for the shopping area. Around 20 minutes later we arrived at the Queens Square Mall passing the distinctive Pacifico building shaped like a sail on the way. Spent some time in the mall then stopped for lunch at the “Wine Stand Basil” where we were able to sit outside and enjoy drinks and a small pizza. From here we had a good view of the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel and roller coaster and several other rides. Back to our hotel by 3:05pm. Next door is the K-Arena which was holding a concert this afternoon at 4pm so it was crowded on the plaza with people arriving. The concert was by Misia a very popular J-pop singer. Finally got into our room where our luggage had been delivered, then went out searching for coffee. Found some at a Lawson convenience store in the hotel basement. 7:30pm time for dinner at the Baydeck restaurant in the plaza outside our hotel.
