San Jose – Day 6
An overcast cooler morning with temperatures around 17C overnight and then going up to 25C during the day when the sun came through. We headed back into town around 9am and explored some of the back streets with the interesting stores and galleries. My questions are why is it still Christmas here? (see photo of tree) and how big of a flag do you really need? Made our way back to the condo by 10:15 am and then I decided to explore the other side of the estuary. Walked all the way across the long, straight causeway over the estuary, most of which was dried out. Quite a busy road which led to the port area. On the far side I went off on a long straight sandy trail heading towards the ocean. Only saw 2 other people right at the start of the trail. Once near the ocean I came to an area on a sand dune called the sculpture garden which was just wooden structures with benches and a play area. Obviously not a very visited place. Great views from here all across the estuary and the beach. Many really interesting wading birds to observe. Unable to actually get over to the beach because of the water channels. After some time exploring I did the return walk back to the condo which took me 29 minutes. A relaxing afternoon. In the evening we went back into town around 7pm and stopped for dinner at K-Trina restaurant where we ate last Thursday. Good Mexican food. Our server was Caesar who is apparently also the owner. Had a long conversation after with Maurice the doorman. Walked up to the plaza after dinner and watched some dancers for a while before heading back home.
