Tokyo-Day1

Departed Vancouver for Tokyo around 4:45pm on Tuesday April 28th 2026. Flying on ANA (All Nippon Airways) Boeing 787-9. An uneventful flight saw us arrive at Haneda Airport, terminal 3 just before 7pm on Wednesday April 29th. Immigration was quick with no waiting as we had done our pre-clearance online. Luggage was retrieved quickly and customs cleared without problems. A short walk across the terminal took us to the Keikyu train line. After talking with information we discovered that we did not need to buy tickets and could just scan our credit card at the gate. Apparently this is a new system which works out to be cheaper. We boarded the busy train with our luggage at 7:33pm. Fortunately we were able to get seats for the 30 minutes journey. Several stops eventually got us to Nihombashi station where we changed to the Tozai train line for our onward journey. A quieter train for the 10 minute trip to Idabashi. Now the challenge was leaving the station at exit 5A as we needed the elevator for all our luggage. We found ourselves lost up at the main exit but were fortunately saved by man we stopped to ask directions. Turned out he was from Toronto and he made some enquiries to find the correct exit for us. We found the elevator and finally arrived at street level to discover there was a light rain falling. We knew our hotel was only a 5 minute walk away and were able to get directions from a couple we stopped. Finally arrived at the Metropolitan Edmont Hotel around 9pm and checked in for our stay.
