Saint Barthelemy
Arrived off Gustavia at 7am. This is the capital of the small island of St Barthelemy in the French West Indies, also know as St Barth or St Barts. A small town of about 2,300 people first established in 1785. It’s now a Caribbean boating haven as evidenced by the number of boats docked and in the bay. Weather was mostly sunny with temperatures around 30C. Tendered ashore at 7:45am for our sailing adventure tour. From the dockside 13 of us boarded the “Good Vibes” a 45ft cataraman captained by Neil and aided by his 2 female crew members. Headed out of the bay under motor then set our sails. About 30 minutes sailing took us around a headland and into Colombia bay and it’s secluded beach. Here we tied up to a buoy just off the beach and spent time relaxing, with the opportunity for a swim. The water was quite warm. Drinks and snacks were served. Departing the bay we set our sails and headed back towards Gustavia. Spent some time sailing around the bay in the brisk wind before eventually returning to the dock at 11am. Debarked and transferred back to the tender.
