Windsor-Day1
Sunday morning started sunny and warm with temperature around 16c. Leaving Bath today for our train journey to Windsor. At the station we discovered that our 12:13pm train was delayed by 10 minutes. Eventually onboard and headed to Didcot for our first change of train. Arriving late we had to quickly change platform but then discovered our next train was also delayed by 30 minutes. Finally boarded our busy train to Slough. Once there we had to transfer to a bus for the final leg to Windsor. This was a very crowded double-decker bus which was a challenge with all our luggage. Eventually arrived around 3:30pm after an eventful journey. Fortunately our hotel the “Sir Christopher Wren” was close to the station so we were soon checked into our room. An interesting old hotel right alongside the river Thames. Our room looked right onto the Windsor/Eton foot bridge over the river. The weather remained mainly sunny with temperature rising to 24c. After a late pub lunch we went for a walk up into Windsor alongside the castle. Extremely busy with day tourists. Returning to the hotel I went for a short walk along the riverbank. As well as all the varied boats the river was full of birds including swans, geese, ducks, gulls, coots etc. The bank was crowded with people walking and feeding the birds. More to follow tomorrow about the different birds observed. In the evening we went across the bridge to the “Cote Brasserie” for Dinner.
